Bond producer says new film will make ‘big difference’ in throwing long-overdue light on 1955 lynching
for almost two decades, it rejected the idea of a film about a Black mother’s fight for justice for her 14-year-old son
who was kidnapped, tortured and murdered in Mississippi in 1955 for allegedly flirting with a white woman.
it has taken 18 years to get the film made
She said: “They were saying: ‘Why would you want to tell this story, it’s depressing?
People don’t want to talk about this history … They just weren’t interested.
They didn’t think it was worth making.”
