Mute words: If you go on social media and keep learning about the latest cryptocurrency tips, or keep getting annoyed with your favorite TV show, it might be time to start silencing certain keywords. This prevents posts containing those keywords from appearing in your timeline. Here’s how to do it on Twitter. Your madness will thank you.

To silence words on Twitter, go to Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Mute and Block -> Mute Names. The file system is the same as in the mobile app, except that you first have to tap your profile icon to access the Settings link.

How to mute words on Twitter the web
To mute words on the Twitter website, go to Settings–> Privacy and Security–> Mute and block
You will now see a few options. What we are looking for are muted words. Choose that.
If you currently mute any words, they will appear on the next screen. Click the + icon in the top right corner to enter a new muted word.
Although the feature is called Enter a muted name, you can also enter a phrase, username, or hashtag. So you can be patient if you want to avoid any pronunciation of Jason Statham’s new film.
Enter the name, phrase, username, or hashtag you wish to mute. Specify that you want to silence it on anyone or only those who are not your followers. Lastly, explain how long the peace should last. Maybe you want to silence it for a while until you have seen the movie and no longer have to worry about the robbers? On the other hand, if you are really sick of that Bitcoin advice, maybe put it in perpetual peace?
How to mute words in the Twitter app
For Android and iOS, tap your profile picture in the top left corner. When the sidebar opens, scroll down and select Settings.
Select Privacy and Security.
Select Mute and disable.
Now press Mute Names.
This is the screen where all your muted words will appear. Tap Add at the bottom right to add a new muted word.
Enter your name or phrase, decide who you want to block, and for how long. Save and exit.
