Microsoft Excel : You have many options for adding cell parameters to Microsoft Excel. But if you want to create a little more or use a border that has more meaning for you, you can create and use a custom border in Excel.
The default border options in Microsoft Excel are correct in most cases. You can use the cell border up, down, left or right, around a group of cells inside and out, and choose the thickness and style of the line.
But perhaps you are doing a lot of data analysis and looking for something other than these options that you can use quickly and without conditional formatting automatically.
Create a Border Cell Custom style in Microsoft Excel:
Using Cell Styles, you can create and customize a cell border that you can reuse throughout your workbook.
To get started, open your workbook in Microsoft Excel and go to the Home tab. In the carbon style section, click “Cell Styles” and select “New Cell Style.”
In the style window that appears, click “Format.”
Format a custom border
When opening the Format Cells window, select the Border tab. On the left, select a line style and color it to your liking
On the right, use the Presets and Border boxes to select where and how your border will be displayed. You can select a border up, down, left, or right, and use separate lines in the middle. As you click on each Border box in Microsoft Excel , you’ll see a preview of what your border will look like.
In our example, we will create a red cell border with both thick and thin lines that cross over the content of the cell. This allows us to easily eliminate certain cells as we update our data.
With flexible options, you can combine colors, line styles and sizes, with different sides or center line for you. So you have complete control over your border preferences.
When done, click “OK” and you will return to the style window to finish setting your cell style.
Finish setting cell style in Microsoft Excel
Enter a custom name for the custom border. After that, don’t check everything except Border. If you want to use one of the additional styles and your custom border, just check the box.
Next to the Border option, you’ll also see the newly selected border settings. Click “OK” to complete the new cell style border.
Use your Border Cell Custom style
If you want to use your new custom border, select a cell or cell width. Go to the Home tab and click “Cell Styles” on the button. You will see your new style at the top under Custom. Click to use it in stock.
You can also apply your custom border (Cell Style) to any sheet in your workbook, making it a quick and easy formatting option.
