Google Assistant can make your life easier, but you need to give it a little help.
Cycles help do more with Google Assistant, as it can perform multiple actions automatically with a single command. Google offers six customizable options, which you can customize. You can also create fully customizable processes, which are activated automatically or with specific phrases. Google Assistant Methods work on smartphones, tablets, and smart speakers like Nest Audio or Nest Hub.
Google Assistant Ready Processes
Six pre-built auxiliary routes open automatically. Using Android, you can view and edit yourself by introducing Google Assistant , by tapping the menu icon in the lower left corner, by tapping your profile picture, scrolling down, and selecting Cycles. IOS users can access the same menu by downloading the Google Assistant app and tapping their profile picture.
You will find a breakdown of all six options below. You can change these by selecting new phrases, adding and disabling actions, or changing their order. For example, you could adjust the volume of the phone, change the smart home appliances, or read a poem for yourself.
Good morning routine
If you say, “Hello,” or “Tell me about my day,” the Google Assistant may:
Let them tell you about the weather.
Gives you calendar details.
Mention any reminders you have.
Remind them when your phone battery is low.
Play news.
Sleep routine
If you say, “Bedtime,” or “Sleep well,” the helper can:
Ask when the alarm should be set.
Tell yourself when your phone’s battery is running low.
Play sleep sounds.
You may want to add actions such as turning down the volume, getting the weather information for the next day, and turning off the lights associated with Google Assistant .
Leaving the home routine
If you say, “I’m leaving,” or “I’m leaving,” the helper can:
Adjust lights, plugs, thermostats, and other smart devices, including door locks and security systems.
I am a homemaker
If you say, “I’m home,” or “I’m back,” the helper can:
Adjust lights, plugs, thermostat, and other smart devices.
Distribute your home via a speaker through Google Assistant .
Tell yourself about home-based reminders.
Adjust media volume.
Play music, news, radio, podcasting, or audiobook.
Going to work regularly
If you say, “Let’s go to work,” the helper can:
Tell yourself about your commute (such as traffic jams).
Get weather information.
Tell them about today’s calendar.
Mention any reminders.
Adjust lights, plugs, thermostat, and other smart devices.
Adjust media volume.
Play music, news, radio, podcasting, or audiobook.
The journey back home
If you say, “Let’s go home,” the helper can:
Tell yourself about your commute to work.
Send text.
Read unread scriptures.
Spread the word on the way home via the Google Speaker.
Adjust lights, plugs, thermostats, and other smart devices.
Adjust media volume.
Play music, news, radio, podcasting, or audiobook.
Custom processes for Google Assistant
If Google’s default settings are not your own, or do not include specific terms, you can make your own. That means choosing the actions you want to launch, as well as the phrase you want to use in voice commands. If you have a home gym for example, “Start My Exercise” may turn on the garage lights and fan, set Do Not Disturb, and push Spotify exercise playlist into your speaker. Sometimes a custom cycle can bring the same functionality as Google, but reduce the amount of adjustment involved, such as this “Wake up and light up”:
Here’s how to set this example for Android: open Google Assistant , tap your profile picture in the top right corner, scroll down, and select Cycles. From there, press the New (Merge) button at the top, which will bring you a page to prepare for the cycle. Start by choosing the option to add a launcher and then type “Rise and shine.” Then press Add action and type in all three actions:
Show calendar events
The possibilities for your routes are endless, as they are limited only by the devices and services you have and that you are using acceptable terms in your startup phrases. You do not even need to go through the Google Assistant app. If you have a Google Home app, you can find the Rounds menu there and press the add icon to continue.
That’s all there is to it! Once you have said the key sentence, the Google Assistant initiates your actions one by one. Be warned that depending on the name you choose, Android may show you higher search results before launching the program. This happened to me during the test, although it was only the first few attempts. After that, the Google Assistant skipped the search results and went to the first action.
If you are going to try the habits, it is a good idea to check out our Google Assistant guide, which explains the many actions you can find.
