Asia Cup 2022: Why is the Indian team staying at the Palm Jumeirah resort? Pakistan team is staying at the Business Bay Hotel in Dubai
The Indian team decided to remain separate from the other teams. After the team arrived in the UAE to participate in the Asia Cup 2022 from 27 August.

The men in blue have chosen the Palm Jumeirah resort. While all other teams including Pakistan are staying at a hotel in Business Bay.
This is not the first time that the Indian team has favored the resort. Last year during the T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli’s team remained there apart from all the participating countries in the international tournament.
The Indian team’s Asia Cup practice session is scheduled in the evening.
The ICC Academy in Dubai is the training center for all participating teams. Whose president Jay Shah is also the head of the Indian board.

15th edition of the Asia Cup cricket tournament


The 2022 Asia Cup is scheduled to be the 15th edition of the Asia Cup cricket tournament. However, in October 2021, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced that Sri Lanka would host the tournament in 2022. With Pakistan hosting the 2023 edition. India are the defending champions.

On 21 July 2022, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) informed the ACC that it would not be in a position to host. The tournament due to the economic and political crisis in the country. On 27 July 2022, the ACC confirmed.

Asia Cup will be held in Dubai


On 28 February 2020, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly stated that “The Asia Cup will be held in Dubai and will be played by both India and Pakistan.”

In June 2020, after a meeting with the ACC, the PCB said it would be willing to let Sri Lanka host the tournament, with India not willing to travel to Pakistan. In July 2021, the ACC issued an official postponement notice. And in March 2021, the tournament faced further postponement after India qualified for the final of the World Test Championship, which conflicted with the proposed dates in June.

In May 2021, the ACC confirmed that the 2021 Asian Cup would not take place. Postponing that edition of the tournament to 2023. In October 2021, after a meeting with the ACC, Ramiz Raja confirmed that Pakistan would host the next tournament in 2023 and Sri Lanka would host the 2022 edition.
